Hillcrest Village Patrol Cars
October 31, 2008
The City of Hillcrest Village owns two patrol units.
Unit #1; 2001 FORD C/V Mileage 118,788
Unit # 2; 2005 FORD C/V Mileage 36,459
In 2006 a citizens’ committee gave the Council a list of recommendations for the Marshal’s Department. One of these items was a more visible Patrol car. To that end the council approved installation of new more visible decals for Unit # 2. The rumors that the City has purchased a new Patrol car are completely false.
Hurricane Emergency Plan
September 11, 2008
The Marshal’s office established a Disaster Plan in the event of extensive damage from Hurricane Ike. The plan consisted of locating the two patrol cars where damage during the storm would not occur or would be minimal at worst. The plan had three Deputies on stand by to be contacted by cell phone by the Marshal should damage to homes warrant restricting access to the city by establishing road blocks. Road blocks at the Hillcrest Golf Course and the intersection of Mustang with Main Street would have been established. Deputies with the two patrol Units were to be posted at these locations. Their instructions were to allow drivers of emergency equipment and Hillcrest Village residents with proper identification through the road blocks.
Extensive Damage
Extensive damage to a home would have been damage that would allow a possible looter to enter the home without force or restriction. An arbitrary number of three homes visible from the street had been determined as sufficient to establish the road blocks. In the event the City elects to reduce the number of patrol cars this level of protection will not be possible.

ALERT
At the time of this posting we have had two (2) burglaries of unlocked vehicles on Riverside Drive. These burglaries have occurred between midnight and eight A.M. on Sunday morning. If you see suspicious activity call 281-331-9000 and an officer will be sent to investigate. Also be sure to lock your cars at any time you are away from them.

We have had two burglaries between 12/27 and 01/10 in our city. We suspect the burglars are casing the properties from the easements and striking during the day. I suspect the Kingfisher construction crews working in the easements are involved in these burglaries in some way. Be sure to lock all garages cars and houses during the day and at night. Report any persons who appear to be watching homes to the Sheriffs department 281-331-9000 so a Hillcrest deputy or BCSO Deputy can investigate.
